It is difficult to look in the mirror and suddenly see lines around the eyes and forehead creeping in. While these wrinkles are small, they make a big impact on your face, particularly when they surround your expressive, beautiful eyes.
Fortunately, even though over-the-counter skincare creams may have failed, you don’t need to undergo a full eyelid or brow lift to address crow’s feet (at the corner of the eyes), frown lines (11’s between the brows), and forehead wrinkles.
All you need is BOTOX® Cosmetic!
Our nurse practitioner injector is highly trained and certified, creating smooth, natural-looking BOTOX® Cosmetic results. We are thrilled to offer this trusted injectable at our medspa in Tampa, Florida.
What Kinds of Wrinkles Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Treat?
All wrinkles are the same, right?
Sadly, not quite. While wrinkles tend to look the same on your face — and are equally frustrating — they are caused by different factors.
Some wrinkles, like the parenthesis lines between your nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines that go down from the sides of your mouth (marionette lines), and lateral cheek lines, are caused by sun damage, lifestyle factors like smoking, and the natural aging process. These fine lines and creases are mostly due to the loss of collagen in your tissues and are best treated with injectable dermal fillers. These fillers, like JUVÉDERM® or Restylane®, fill in these lines and creases by physically plumping the area beneath the skin.
This is not how BOTOX® Cosmetic works.
BOTOX® Cosmetic addresses wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements and expressions. Think about it: Every time you smile, squint, blink, or furrow your brow, you cause the muscles in your upper face to contract. While these movements are temporary, and your muscles relax and smooth moments later, more permanent lines develop over time.
BOTOX® Cosmetic addresses these types of wrinkles.
With routine BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, you can reduce or even prevent the appearance of the following:
- Crow’s feet
- Frown lines
- Forehead lines
- Gummy smiles
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Dimpled chin
- Smile lines
- And more
How Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?
By injecting the solution into specific facial muscles (usually around the eyes or mouth), BOTOX® Cosmetic helps to temporarily immobilize troublesome muscles to prevent contractions. And, when muscles cannot contract, the wrinkles they cause cannot form.
Our skilled injectors have been performing BOTOX® Cosmetic for years and know the exact muscles and amount needed to create smooth results while maintaining natural facial movements. You will never look “frozen”; you will simply look fresh and rejuvenated.
What Are the Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic?
This injectable treatment is simple, safe, FDA-approved, and comfortable.
When used to reduce existing wrinkles, most patients enjoy their results for three to six months before the effects wear off. However, younger patients have realized that BOTOX® Cosmetic can also help prevent lines and wrinkles from forming initially, a new cosmetic craze called “prejuvenation.” For instance, a woman in her 20s may opt for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections before she starts seeing these lines. This way, she can “pre-treat” or “pre-rejuvenate” her skin and stop the wrinkles in their tracks.
How Is a BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment Performed?
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are performed in our office in a matter of minutes.
Our nurse practitioner injector will evaluate your concerns and determine the muscles responsible for your unwanted lines. This solution is injected directly into the muscles with a fine needle. Only a few precisely placed BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are needed to prevent or treat wrinkles.
Multiple areas can be treated at once, and you can combine your BOTOX® Cosmetic injections with dermal fillers during the same session.
Is There Any Downtime After BOTOX® Cosmetic?
This injectable comes with minimal downtime. In fact, many patients choose to get their BOTOX® Cosmetic done on their lunch breaks before returning to work.
While you will not have to “recover at home” following your injection, you will need to avoid strenuous exercises or massages for at least 24 hours. You will also not want to lie down immediately after treatment, as these activities can cause BOTOX® migration.
Most patients only report temporary redness and soreness following BOTOX® Cosmetic.
When Will I See My BOTOX® Cosmetic Results?
You may start to see your BOTOX® Cosmetic results in as little as 24 to 48 hours; however, it can take up to a few days, with final results appearing a week or two after your treatment.
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections help you to achieve smoother, more youthful skin. These results typically last three to six months, depending on how your body reacts. Because of this, most patients have maintenance injections performed every three to six months to achieve continued results.
BOTOX® Cosmetic FAQ
Why choose Dr. Halpern and our team for your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Dr. Halpern and his trusted team are dedicated to helping patients look and feel their absolute best. Whether it be a plastic surgery procedure (like breast augmentation surgery, liposuction surgery, or facelift surgery) or a non-surgical treatment (like BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, or laser skin resurfacing treatments), we are here for you.
Our team works together to find the appropriate treatment for your needs. We often refer our surgical patients to our medspa and vice-versa to ensure our patients are getting the right care and maintenance. We will not recommend facial surgery for a patient who would better qualify for BOTOX® Cosmetic but will be honest with you if a more extensive treatment will provide better results.
How long will my BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment take?
The length of a BOTOX® Cosmetic session depends on the number of injections and areas treated. Most BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment sessions take less than 30 minutes to complete.
Do I need to prepare for my BOTOX® Cosmetic session?
There is little you need to do before your injection. You will be asked to avoid aspirin and any other blood-thinning medication and need to inform your injector about any bleeding disorders or infections you might have. Also, patients should not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
